Introduction

Who we are
Dharmatech is a software development and technology firm that is motivated to help bring about lasting social change. We provide technology solutions to organizations working to improve our communities in a variety of fields, including conservation, human rights, public safety, social services, and the arts.
Dharmatech was founded in 2002 by Sarmeesha Reddy, a former Motorola engineer. She left the Fortune 500 world with one goal in mind: to use her engineering skills to help community organizations be more effective in their work. Dharmatech began to operate as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation in 2004. In 2007, Sarmeesha began to hire staff, seeking out individuals with talent and experience as well as a strong commitment to community activism and an understanding of the critical role that technology must play. In 2010, with co-founder Jason Hill, Dharmatech became an LLC, to allow for more for-profit work while still holding firmly to the beliefs and mission of the nonprofit.
We are committed to giving back to the nonprofit and open source technology communities. We create products and systems geared for small to medium-sized organizations that can be reused, and that scale as an organization grows and matures. We freely and openly share all of our software contributions.
What we do
Rather than provide short-term, “band-aid” solutions to a problem, we address the root cause. We accomplish this by:
- Developing technology solutions that are focused toward the organization while also look for opportunity to reuse for others.
- Building and implementing solutions that are affordable and appropriate, and that integrate key organizational processes into one system;
- Offering our team’s extensive skills and expertise in software engineering, system administration, organizing, fundraising, and organizational development;
Please read our services page for more descriptions and our projects page for examples of work we've done in the past.
