Save Our Canyons
DharmaTech assisted Save Our Canyons (SOC) with a comprehensive technology overhaul in 2008-2009. We implemented an open source system specifically designed to meet their needs and challenges. The project included extensive consultation and training to ensure maximum impact.
We provided SOC with an integrated content management (website) and constituent relationship (database) system that allows them to: 1) preserve institutional knowledge, 2) capitalize on long-term relationships, and 3) communicate with their constituents in a strategic and consistent way. For example, using their web-based database, SOC’s 85-year-old Board Chair can enter information about the relationships he has built over decades of work on SOC’s issues. All of their staff, board, and volunteers can create and update content on the website. They can send out mass communications from their database and do targeted appeals to their members. As a result, SOC is more effective in sharing information with their constituents and making it easy for them to stay engaged and involved in important issues. Finally, a new computer network has improved productivity. All of SOC’s staff, board, and volunteers can access their file server, and easily share files and collaborate on projects. We also helped SOC reduce its business risk with scheduled onsite and offsite backups.
With the new systems in place, SOC can be more strategic, dedicate more time to its campaigns, better leverage relationships in the community, and – ultimately – have a greater impact in accomplishing its mission.
