Southwest Environmental Center

The Southwest Environmental Center (SWEC) does amazing programmatic work in three distinct areas: Desert Waters, Desert Lands and Wildlife, and Education. In collaboration with Wilburforce Foundation we worked with SWEC to improve their outreach by improving their tech... something we've become very good at and have developed a reputation.

With a laundry list of pain points within the organization, we broke the requirements into 'critical needs' and 'immediate needs.' This list included:

• Improve member reporting functionality
• Improve tracking and analyses of members
• Automate membership tasks
• Ability to accept online donations
• Targeted e-mail blasts
• Modern web design to engage the audience
• Easy way to manage and update content

Implementing our Drupal/CiviCRM base configuration addresses most of these issues out-of-the-box and with some customization and consulting, transforms their pain points into a powerful set of tools that becomes integral to SWEC's outreach. By better managing the tedious tasks, it saves time so that SWEC can focus on their program work.

With extra time in the project schedule, we were able to implement some additional features that were not requested at the beginning of the project.

• Online petition
• Letter to the Editor
• Dynamic 'related' blocks in every program area based on content and taxonomy (area of program work)
• Imported data from their old database into CiviCRM using a series of tools we wrote to clean, process and prepare the data for import
